![]() Recommend bug spray if planning to be outside much on the campground to ward off a pesky, biting fly species. The campground is close to all the stores and restaurants on the Highway 158 Bypass, as well as one mile from the Kitty Hawk Wright Bros Memorial which is convenient for those that like to walk for exercise (just park for free on the little side road off Collington Rd for the small airport). Another bonus is the on-site 2 washing machines & 2 dryers in the building where the office is, though the bathrooms unfortunately remain closed due to Covid virus concerns. The staff were all very nice people and attentive to any needs of the guests. They are all situated on a large circular gravel roadway, & many had a nice water view in addition to the several directly on the water. The lots are nice size compared to many campgrounds. Stayed on this property for about 12 nights and it’s highly recommended. You can have fire if it’s in a fire container above ground, no fire pits. Place is clean and nice space between campers. Some of them like from our lot you see water. Across from outside lots are $70 a night. Lots on outside are $90 a night but some of those lots had no water view in front of you like 18, 19 & 20, just Swamp grass. We stayed at site 12 which was a beautiful view of water. Well they do but they said it’s not dependable and they were right. For kids small play area with swings & slide also large pile of sand to play in near pier. We camped May 13 - 20th weekdays hardly any kids, almost too quiet. Morning the geese & their babies were out, lots of birds, 6 deer walked out from Swamp to eat clover. If you can bring like a screened in doom, mosquitoes will run you in during evening unless you have cool weather like us. ![]() They have a pier to fish off but lots of grass near shore so you have to throw far out. You can launch them off the grass but there is no boat ramp. Bring your own fun at campground such as kayak or canoe. You’ve got the best of two worlds, peace and quiet and then 4 minutes away crowds, beach, shops and Restaurants. This place is a great hideaway back in Colington on the Bay side. The sky at night is lit up with stars, so if you like to gaze this is the perfect place! You can see the sunset over the trees which is pretty as well! The front desk help was very friendly and welcoming with details about the campsite as well as the area for places to go and things to do! The price was great and very reasonable! We extended our stay and can't wait to come back and stay again!… All sites are large, full hook up, along the canal with a view of the dock and water ahead! Pets are allowed, it wasn't overcrowded or campers stacked right next to each other, and all other guests were quiet and friendly. We arrived after the office closed without a reservation and so thankful they had sites open for late arrivers that you could choose and set up at and then stop at the office the following morning to check in for your stay! Very thankful they do this as it was our first time to Outer Banks and traveling with our camper, hoping others do this as well! The campground itself is very clean and centrally located to lots of actives and perfect for those that want to venture or just hang there.
